Winter Walk is THIS SUNDAY! Thank you so much for supporting women in need this February. We are so excited to welcome you to our neighborhood and walk together to celebrate empowering women! If you still haven’t signed up, you can do so at our fundraising website: https://www.classy.org/campaign/winter-walk-a-mile-in-her-shoes/c452509.
Winter Walk will be this Sunday, February 26, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Doors will open at 12PM noon. We’ll meet at Uplift Community High School at 900 W. Wilson Ave, Chicago, IL, 60640. The entrance to the school is on the eastern side of the building at Door 5.
All supporters of Sarah’s Circle are welcome to attend the event! As a registered fundraiser, you can proceed straight to the check-in table for your nametag.
Parking will be available in the parking lot at Uplift Community High School, accessible from Wilson Ave. (Look for the balloons!) There is a second lot on Eastwood Ave accessible from Sheridan Road and some street parking on Wilson Ave.
Starting at 1pm, we’ll gather inside Uplift Community High School to hear from Sarah’s Circle’s leadership and some local elected officials, participate in a group exercise, and watch a short video featuring some women we’ve helped empower.
We will then lead you in small groups on a one-mile walk through Sarah’s Circle’s neighborhood, narrating the story of a women who has experienced homelessness along the way.
Finally, we’ll return inside the school for hot dogs (vegan options included!), coffee, hot chocolate, snacks, goodie bags and mingling.
All your hard work is about to pay off! You’ve gone above and beyond to make Winter Walk a success this year, and we are so impressed by the massive support in this community for empowering women in need. THANK YOU!!!
Why do we walk?
Winter Walk: a Mile in Her Shoes highlights the harsh reality of women’s homelessness during the deadly cold of Chicago’s winters. Your support can make the difference between a woman struggling to survive alone on the street and a woman who is safe and warm in her own bed.
This year, you can help women experiencing homelessness by walking, donating, and/or fundraising. Sarah’s Circle thanks you for your help ensuring that every woman in Chicago has a place to call home.
Last year’s tremendous support of Winter Walk: a Mile in Her Shoes continues to have a significant impact on women who are homeless and struggling to survive in Chicago through every season. Winter is particularly challenging and deadly. No one should be subject to living outside in harsh Chicago winters. This is why we walk.
We hope to see you in 2023 for the 31st Annual Winter Walk! Learn more about walking and start fundraising on our dedicated Winter Walk campaign website here: https://www.classy.org/campaign/winter-walk-a-mile-in-her-shoes/c452509
